Come to Rocky Point

Rocky Point Rally 2016

By M.A. Velazquez The 16th annual Rocky Point Rally is almost here.  Scheduled for November 10th through the 13th, this is one of Rocky Point’s most exciting events. The five day rally event is packed with excitement, even if you are not a rider. It begins on Veterans Day, Wednesday, with many of the local area bars offering welcome specials for riders and tourists. By Friday November 11th, many of the visiting bands will be arriving and free concerts are planned at several local area restaurants and bars. There will also be several bands playing outdoor shows Friday night on 13th Street. On Saturday morning, November 12ft, be sure to catch the biker parade down Benito Juarez Avenue, the highlight of the weekend.  This is the perfect chance to admire the many shiny and colorful bikes up close and not only hear, but feel the roar of the engines. People will line the street with folding chairs and riders toss candy and goodies to parade attendees. The parade culminates at Old Port where the bikes park all along the old port road and live music is performed in the amphitheatre area at the end of the street. There is no charge to view the parade, however if you have a bike and would like to participate, you must register and pay a participation fee. Local area restaurants and bars will also air Saturday college football throughout the day. Live music and rally specials will continue through Sunday with many restaurants also airing Sunday football. November brings optimum weather to Rocky Point so it is the perfect time to get out here, enjoy the cool temperatures and see some unique bikes. Funds raised from parade participation fees and some ride events will support local charities. Make your plans early, as rally weekend is one of the most popular weekends of the year, and we’ll see you in Rocky Point! ]]>
