Come to Rocky Point

Rocky Point is home to the best beachfront golf courses on the Sea of Cortez!

In addition to being a privileged spot situated between the desert and the Sea of Cortez with great hotel infrastructure, Puerto Peñasco (aka Rocky Point) is also home to the best golf courses in northwestern Mexico.

Built across sand dunes and framed by the sea, Rocky Point’s three golf courses offer unbeatable experiences along with the best views and tournaments, which have fast become yearly traditions among golfers from Mexico and the U.S.

One of the most impressive courses is that located within the Vidanta complex. As a Jack Nicklaus Legacy golf course, it has been dubbed by Golf Week Magazine as “one of the 20 best and most fascinating courses in the world”, and one of the best within Mexico and the Caribbean.

The 18-hole 72 par course sprawled across 7210 yards respects the natural design of the land, providing an especially inviting form to golfers. The course also houses a restaurant and pro-shop.

Another world-class golf course, Islas del Mar, is located just northeast of the city center along an expansive stretch of certified clean beach in a truly divine site on the Sea of Cortez.

The Islas del Mar golf course currently offers the back 9 of its 18-hole Jack Nicklaus design, which is also of international scope.

The Islas del Mar golf course, built along a lagoon encircled by condominiums, villas, pools, and terraces, has a practice range, restaurants, and areas for private events. It provides the sensation of golfing on an island where one can appreciate the melding of the desert with the sea, along with the tranquility of the beach.

Another world-class 18 hole golf course sculpted over the dunes, located nearly beachfront in town, is “The Links” at the Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort. Designed under the prestigious brand of Forrest Richards and Arthur Jack Snyder, the links style course, and hence the name, is distinguished by the challenges it provides golfers, along with its amazing landscape and panoramic views. The Links course was created with a focus on the natural form over the desert dunes and includes several lakes.

The Links at Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort has its own bar and pro-shop and has hosted several grand anniversary tournaments, the annual “Gonzo & Friends tournament, as well as the “Canción Tequila Classic” of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Each of these tournaments attracts golfers principally from the states of Arizona and California, as well as northern Mexico, and provides kind attention to all participants.

Rocky Point’s exemplary golf courses are yet another reason to visit! If you’re planning a trip, be sure to visit one or all of these!
