Come to Rocky Point

Ready to welcome Astoria cruise ship before journey through Sea of Cortez beginning Jan 9th, 2020

The majestic vessel cruises along the Pacific coast on its way to Puerto Peñasco before embarking for first time on voyage through Sea of Cortez.

With just days to go before launch of the historic cruise to sail from Puerto Peñasco, with port calls in four Mexican states lining the Sea of Cortez, preparations are well underway to welcome the highly anticipated ship and cruise goers.

The Astoria cruise ship, with a capacity for 500 passengers, will sail from Puerto Peñasco on January 9th for an 11-day journey along the coasts of the Sea of Cortez with port calls in Topolobampo, Mazatlán, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Loreto, Santa Rosalía, and Guaymas before returning to Puerto Peñasco.

Prior to the historic launch, on January 8th the Astoria will welcome special guests for a gala luncheon, tour of the ship along with Navy representatives, and a Las Vegas style show. The luncheon tour on the Astoria is for those interested in exploring the formidable luxury vessel, with proceeds going to the scholarship program of the municipal DIF.

This cruise is the first of such magnitude to sail through the Sea of Cortez, marking the historic launch of cruise routes in this region. The project, which is now a reality, has earned tremendous acceptance from the American community as well as authorities, such as U.S. Consul General Virginia Staab in Nogales. Staab expressed her confidence in the cruise, noting it is an initiative that will provide an extra bonus to Puerto Peñasco which is already popular among visitors from the U.S.

The Sonoran State Government, Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Municipal administration have joined efforts to promote the cruise, particularly across the U.S. states of Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada, as well as the city of Chicago, and throughout Sonora, Chihuahua, and Baja California in Mexico.
