Come to Rocky Point

Puerto Peñasco is the ideal spot to celebrate the 4th of July!

The 4th of July, U.S. Independence Day, is rapidly approaching and along with it plans as to how to celebrate the important holiday.

Puerto Peñasco has become the ideal destination to celebrate the 4th because of everything it has to offer: from great hotel offerings for all tastes and needs, to top cuisine and special events at local bars and hotels to celebrate the holiday with live music and fireworks. Above all, our warm beaches are ready to welcome you to the city’s relaxed and fun atmosphere!

If you’ve already made plans to come to this corner of the Sea of Cortez, we’d like to recommend several activities to help celebrate the holiday on the beach in Rocky Point.

Now with the flight connection from Tijuana to Puerto Peñasco, you’ll be able to get here quicker from California and other spots but without paying high prices.

For those who are driving, it is important to keep in mind border hours at the Lukeville-Sonoyta port of entry will be extended to 10 p.m. on Friday,  July 1st, and Monday, July 4th.

On July 2nd and 3rd, check out Bacanora Fest on the “malecon” in the Old Port where there will be tastings of different bacanora products (a drink originating in the Sonoran Mountains), as well as live music, and Mexican treats.

Visit Las Palomas Beach and Golf Resort for rock tunes by the group “Element”, plus dinner, drinks and snacks, and colorful fireworks to light up the evening.

On July 2nd, enjoy tasting different craft beers at La Arena 3C’s popular Beer Fest.

Grab a group of friends or your partner and check out the bars in the “Malecon”, “el mirador”, or in the resort area, featuring guest bands from the U.S. and Mexico, tasty bites, special drinks, and a super celebratory atmosphere.

Book a spot on one of the tourist boats to appreciate the beauty of the sea at sunset while having fun listening to music, eating snacks, sharing drinks, and enjoying the company of others also here to celebrate the holiday.

Rent some ATV’s and ride through the permitted dunes and tourist area, while always remembering to use safety gear.

If you’re more drawn to water activities, you can rent a jet ski, hop on a banana boat, or parasail if you prefer a bird’s eye view of the sea.

Visit the Schuck Toak Museum and Visitors Center, located on the highway to Sonoyta at the Pinacate Reserve, where you will learn interactively about the biodiversity of this desert volcanic area.

Also a must is a trip to the “curios” on Rodeo Drive on the way to Cholla, or those found in the “malecon”. Make sure to take a souvenir of Puerto Peñasco home with you!
