The U.S. Labor Day holiday weekend meant to say goodbye to intense heat while welcoming cooler temperatures, brings with it the expectation of thousands of visitors looking for rest and recreation on Puerto Peñasco’s beaches.
If you still haven’t made plans for the holiday weekend, starting the last weekend of August, Puerto Peñasco’s beaches, agreeable climate, ample hotel offerings, diverse restaurant menus, and several events await!
Taking advantage of the late summer weather, you can organize an early morning trip to nearby oyster farms to sample delicious oysters or clams, or maybe an adventure at sea to Isla San Jorge (Bird Island) to view the habitat of hundreds of birds and sea lions while you kayak, snorkel, or swim alongside them.
You can also reserve outings on one of the several tourist boats, together with a group of friends, family, or significant other, to relish in the sunset. With any luck, you’ll also come across dolphins and maybe even sea lions!
Another attraction in the cooler mornings is walking along the beach, looking out from the malecón in the Old Port, or from higher viewpoints, to take in the whole port.
Over the extended weekend, bars in the malecón, along Calle 13, in the Mirador, and on Sandy Beach provide live music featuring rock groups, DJs, country singers, or bands doing covers, offering a variety of venues for visitors.
Of course you can’t miss out on the tremendous variety of tourism services and adventures in the port, from off-road vehicles to ultralights, zip-line to jet-skis and banana rides over the waves, or perhaps a boat rental so you can get to know a bit about the Sea of Cortez.
