Rocky Point Rally Gives Donations to Local Charities

Posted by

The 11th year of the Rocky Point Rally once again roared through the coastal fishing village, resort town of Puerto Peñasco in northwestern Mexico from Nov. 10-13, 2011.

Neither cloudy skies, a rainy departure day, or insane road work could deter the festivities, particularly on Saturday down at the malecón. Initial estimates point to about 3500-4000 bikes in the area for the rally, streaming in over from spots as far away as Alaska and British Colombia in Canada, and south from as far as Mexico City! Of course the majority of bikers came in from the nearby states of AZ, and NM, and there were growing numbers from CA with the availability of the new coastal highway.

Voluntary donations for registration fees from this annual event go to seven local charities including: Red Cross, Fire Department, La Montana school, George Papanicolaou Group, Casa Hogar, the local DIF, and the DIF office in Sonoyta. On Dec. 14th, representatives from the charities met with rally organizers and volunteers where they received approximately $500 US each,  from rally organizers Javier Muños Director of  OCV and on behalf of Hector Vazquez (President), with Oscar Palacio rally Coordinator.

The rally continues to be a welcome tradition for Rocky Point and the date for the Twelfth Rally has already been set for 2012!  So, save the date for Nov. 8 – 11, 2012 and plan to head to Rocky Point again!  We’ll do our best to be sure it’s sunny!  Safe riding!  Plus, we invite everyone to pick up a registration packet in 2012 so we can increase overall fundraising gifts.
